Snap-on Must Have Tool: SRD35 Torque Adaptor

February 10, 2011

Snap-on always tries to get input from its customers when designing tools. In customer Loren Klebe’s case, Snap-on took his idea to the next level and made an innovative and productivity-enhancing tool based on his design: the SRD35 Torque Adaptor.

“Loren submitted his product design to Snap-on through our ‘New Product Idea Forum’ and we took it from there,” said Scott Amundson, product manager for Snap-on.  “Loren truly created an innovative and efficient tool that any service technician could use on a daily basis.  The Snap-on torque adaptor not only lets technicians reach bolts easily, it also delivers the extreme amount of torque needed to turn the bolts. And, it eliminates the need to switch tools for 90 degree torque procedures.  We want to thank Loren for coming to us with this great idea.”

The Snap-on SRD35 Torque Adaptor has special applications for use on Ford F250/F350 trucks and Excursions (2003-2007), Ford E-Series vans (2004-2009) including ambulance, law enforcement and shuttle bus conversions using the 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engine. Some of the tool’s features include:

• Use of 3/4-inch drive ratchet/torque wrench transmits the high torque necessary to loosen and tighten head bolts with less strain on the technician;
• Eliminates the need to remove the truck/van cab from the chassis to access the rear head bolts, saving time and preventing damage to the rear heat shield;
• Eliminates the need to remove the evaporator housing, saving two hours of time and the additional cost of refrigerant added during A/C recharging; and
• Coupled with an SWM181 18mm socket, the SRD35 can access all of the head bolts, eliminating the need to change tools or remove the adaptor during the job.
