Damage-free clamping of alloy wheels presents many challenges to tire technicians. Missing or improperly installed plastic clamp covers can result in metal to metal contact and current plastic clamp covers are difficult to use on stiff-sidewall applications. Additionally, chrome wheels can slip during service while clamped externally.

True to Hennessy Industries’ innovative style, its COATS brand now offers the solution to these problems: COATS Grip-Max Laminated Clamps.

Grip-Max clamps offer twice the slip resistance of conventional clamp covers and last 30 percent longer than conventional clamp covers. The new Grips’ plastic protectors are integrated into the clamp, reducing the chance that they will detach and eliminating metal-to-metal contact when clamping externally. The Grip-Max’s metal jaws have point contact for traditional inside clamping on steel wheels, and can be replaced without purchasing new clamp bodies. A new jaw profile drastically improves ease of use. The three-position clamp also allows for adjustments covering a wide range of rim sizes.

COATS Grip-Max clamps also offer an exceptional value. The damage prevented on three rims pays for a set of clamps. Add reduced clamp maintenance and replacement and Grip-Max clamps will save the average customer more than $2,500 over five years.

Grip-Max laminated clamps fit all Coats 50X, 70X and APX Rim-Clamp tire changers.
