Hunter Engineering Full-service Series of Heavy-Duty Pit Racks

Hunter Engineering Introduces Heavy-Duty Pit Racks

The series was specifically designed to get all sizes of trucks or light-duty vehicles on and off the rack and back in service as quickly as possible.

Just because something is big and heavy doesn’t mean it can’t be fast, too. Hunter Engineering has introduced a series of heavy-duty pit racks designed to service a wide variety of trucks — and particularly larger vehicles — with remarkable ease and speed.

The new alignment pit racks offer easy installation for the shop owner and easy access for the technicians. The P490HD provides maximum flexibility by accommodating a wide variety of vehicles. Its compact 226-in. runway allows for any number of rear axles on the concrete apron, with the only size constraint being whatever will fit in the shop.

The new P491HD features a 360-in. runway for longer-cab vehicles, with rear-axle adjustments performed on slip plates.

The P490 and P491 are both perfect solutions for extended vehicles such as motor coaches, whose length and low clearance often prevent them from accessing a traditional rack.

The series was specifically designed to get all sizes of trucks or light-duty vehicles on and off the rack and back in service as quickly as possible. Both models can accommodate 35,000 lbs, with 30-in. wide runways and built-in slip plates and turnplates. Versions that include Hunter’s PowerSlide functionality are also available.

The 30 in. pit allows technicians to get around the vehicle without difficulty. Unlike many of today’s pit racks, no pre-installation kits are required for the P49HD series. The pits are simple to pour, including an optional deeper pit of 58 inches for full underside serviceability.

The new racks will also accept many accessories from Hunter’s 494 heavy-duty four-post lift, including jacks.

“Today, we’re all feeling the pain of constraints on freight,” said Pete Liebetreu, Hunter vice president of marketing. “That builds a corresponding need for very quick and efficient service. The 490 and 491 are convenient, fast and efficient options for our customers to provide exactly that.”
