Hi, this is Eric with TechShop, and another edition of Tool Showcase.
Some of the most important things we use every day as technicians are our senses, and I’m talking about our sight, smell, touch and hearing.
But as you know, we often need to rely on tools to enhance those senses, and one of my favorites is a video borescope. We need to be able to see inside cylinders or inside a heater box, or even down the back side of an engine where there’s no line of sight.
So, check out what I’ve got here today.
This is the model KTI-XD3K Video Inspection Borescope from K-Tool International.
Power up is quick and easy; just like that it’s ready to go.
The features include a 2.5-inch full color LCD screen, an 8.5mm camera, four times digital zoom, six-level adjustable LED lighting, 180 degree image rotation and it can store up to 30 images.
And this is a nice feature here. On the back, you lift the battery cover and there’s a hook, mirror and magnet stowed on the lid. It’s nice to always have them right at the tool if you need them and they can really come in handy.
I used the magnet to retrieve a small piece of metal from a cylinder, and I still had a full view inside so I could go straight to it and pick it up.
It’s nice and compact and for storage the flexible wand wraps neatly around the case.
As you can see, you’ve got a lot of nice features to help you get eyes on those hard to see areas, and you can use the stored images for later inspection or to show your customer exactly what’s going on.
