Engines with flat tappet camshafts found in just about any classic or antique car, muscle car, hotrod, race car, motorcycle and passenger vehicle more than 15 years old need more zinc and phosphorus than they get from today’s standard motor oils.
These engines need high levels of ZDDP, a zinc and phosphorus engine oil additive that has been drastically reduced in modern engine formulations. When these engines don’t get enough ZDDP (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate), they can suffer a host of issues.
The problems:
Camshaft wear;
Piston scuffing;
Lifter and valvetrain damage; and
Shorter engine life.
The solution: Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment
Restores ZDDP levels to make new oils backward compatible with older engines;
Reduces friction and wear, especially at start-up;
Prevents camshaft wear;
Prevents piston scuffing;
Prevents lifter and valvetrain damage; and
Extends engine life.
Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment (p/n 4401) contains the ZDDP that older engines need. It was designed for gasoline and diesel engines requiring SL/CI rated oil and older. For best protection, it should be added at every oil change. It can also be used to top off oil as needed.
“There are other additives out there that are designed purely for break-in use or whose manufacturers make outlandish, unproven claims,” says Clay Parks, Bar’s Products vice president of development. “At Rislone, we’ve combined our more than 90 years of oil additive knowledge with proven ZDDP technology to develop Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment. It protects an engine’s moving parts, preventing wear and damage for a longer useful life.”
Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment works with all petroleum-based motor oils, including conventional, high-mileage and synthetic formulas. For gasoline engines from 1996 or earlier, add one bottle to the engine crankcase. Vehicles from 1997 to 2004 should get approximately half a bottle. On diesel engines manufactured in 2006 or earlier, add one bottle to the engine crankcase for every five quarts of engine capacity. Other applications get 20 percent of crankcase capacity.
Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment is available to distribution in case packs of six 32 oz. bottles. Like all Rislone products, it is made in the U.S.A. The label includes directions in both English and Spanish.
