New Fidanza Driveshafts Help Unlock the Mustang’s Power Potential

The weakest link between a vehicle's engine and its wheels is the driveshaft. Stock driveshafts can easily manage a few hundred horsepower but limit the potential of more potent performers. Luckily, Fidanza has the solution - new performance driveshafts for muscular 2005-2007 Ford Mustangs (GT, Shelby GT500, 5-6 speed).

Question: "When is a 600 horsepower Mustang not a 600 horsepower Mustang?"

Answer: "When you can’t transfer all that power to the ground!"

The weakest link between a vehicle’s engine and its wheels is the driveshaft. Stock driveshafts can easily manage a few hundred horsepower, but limit the potential of more potent performers. Luckily, Fidanza has the solution – new performance driveshafts for muscular 2005-2007 Ford Mustangs (GT, Shelby GT500, 5-6 speed).

Fidanza’s 3.5" diameter aluminum Mustang driveshafts are rated for up to 600 (#586486) and 900 (#586489) horsepower, have none of the clearance issues associated with larger driveshafts and feature a superior joint design for increased strength. As well, the aluminum shafts weigh only 16 lbs. (32 lbs. less than stock). The result is less rotating mass and less wasted horsepower in the drivetrain.

"The stock driveshaft also uses a hanger bearing that tends to travel in a violent ‘up and down’ motion when the pedal is mashed," said Bob Scheid, vice president, Fidanza. "Our new Mustang units eliminate this problem."

Also available from Fidanza are 3" diameter steel driveshafts rated for up to 600 (#586686) and 900 (#586689) horsepower. The steel units, with all the same benefits of the aluminum shafts, weigh-in at 20 lbs. and sell for a lower suggested retail price.

Finally, Fidanza is also offering a 3" diameter steel driveshaft for the 2005-2007 Ford Mustang V6 5-speed (#586466). It is rated for up to 600 horsepower and weighs 20 lbs.

"Why try to make more horsepower when you can’t use what you already have?" added Scheid. "It makes no sense and wastes a lot of money. Before you boost your Mustang to new heights, make sure it has the right equipment to reach them."

All Fidanza Ford Mustang driveshaft kits come complete with everything needed for installation.

This month’s diagnostic journey begins with a 2008 Land Rover Discovery that is taken in to a local testing facility for an emission test and fails due to a series of misfire codes.

Misfire activity is found on cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8 and 3; at first glance this series of codes implies that there may be bank 2 issues, but the cylinder 3 code throws a wrench into that mode of thought.
