OTC, a business unit of SPX Corporation, offers the Magnetic Induction Heating System (P/N #6650). The system provides technicians with a fast, efficient method for parts removal and repair, without the added time investment and liability of using an open flame. The OTC 6650 comes complete with bolt, glass and body panel inductors, foot switch and instructional CD.
“Every technician knows that the hardest and most time consuming job in the repair process is parts removal, especially vehicles with stubborn rust-caked bolts, fasteners and bonded components,” said Peter Truhler, product marketing manager, Tools & Equipment NA. “With the Magnetic Induction Heating System, there’s a new way for technicians to safely and quickly remove bolts, glass, emblems and bonded body components.”
With an available power rating of 1,500 watts, the OTC Magnetic Induction Heating System produces heat in just seconds within metal objects such as body panels, nuts, bolts and pinchweld areas behind glass without damaging nonmetallic objects such as glass, paint or plastic. The versatile inductor can also remove core support labels and vehicle identification numbers tags without damage. Because the system is specifically designed to induce heat on metal objects, it is safe to use in or near heat-sensitive areas.
The OTC Bolt and Glass Inductors are molded using an impact resistant, flame retardant polymer, and molded-in waterproof cord grip preventing the HF cable from being pulled from the heating attachment. The OTC Body Inductor edges are surged and the interior are silicone coated to improve water resistance and climate fraying.
OTC Bolt Inductor: The bolt inductor produces concentrated heat in a small area for a multitude of applications. It can produce temperatures in excess of 1,400 F in just seconds. This concentrated heat is ideal for the heating and easy removal of seized fasteners, and can also be used to remove caulk and seam sealer.
OTC Glass Inductor: The glass inductor produces heat in a 1”x4” area, which is ideal for heating channels behind glass components. This inductor achieves a channel temperature of 350 F in about 30 seconds and easily accesses areas normal glass removal tools can’t. It is also great for encapsulated window adhesive, body bonded panels, spray-in bedliners and can also be used to fully cure high-build primers in just seconds.
OTC Body Panel Inductor: The body panel inductor produces mild heat in flat or contoured body panels for the removal of moldings, pin stripes and vinyl graphics. The flexible, heat-resistant fiberglass blanket conforms to most body contours, and includes a hand-strap for easy manipulation.
For added versatility, the OTC Interior Molding Removal Tool (P/N 4489) is also available.
