Schrader Bridgeport International, Inc. has introduced two new AirAware Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Retrofit Kits.
“The new Retrofit Kits allow TPMS to be installed on vehicles that are not equipped with original-equipment TPMS systems,” said Schrader TPMS Project Manager David Weber.
“TPMS systems monitor proper tire pressure to maintain vehicle performance and support safety. Our Retrofit Kits monitor pressure in all four tires, and detect under-inflation of 25 percent or more. More and more consumers are recognizing that properly inflated tires improve vehicle handling, reduce braking distances, decrease tire wear and improve fuel efficiency,” Weber noted.
Both kits include a combined receiver/dash-mounted display, four wheel-mounted transmitters that fit most wheel applications and installation instructions.
There are two different part numbers available, based on wiring options:
The 20257 system offers two wiring configurations either a cigarette lighter based power cord or hard wiring to switched wires.
The 20256 system offers quick easy wireless installation, using two AA batteries, which are included.
For monitoring a spare tire, a fifth sensor (26883) is sold separately.
“Installation is not difficult, but does require special tools that a DIY consumer may not have readily available. In those cases, we recommend that buyers have the units professionally installed,” Weber added.
Schrader AirAware is a full line of TPMS systems, components and tools that meet OE quality and performance specifications.
