With Snap-on’s new Software Bundle 7.2, technicians have access to the latest Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) coverage on domestic vehicles by using their MODIS, SOLUS or MT2500 Scanner.
“We are almost to the point in automotive technology that you need a scan tool just to rotate tires,” said Chris Hockett, technical marketing specialist at Snap-on Diagnostics. “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems are the reason why. With direct systems, the tire valve acts as a sensor that measures tire inflation and reports it to a computer. The computer monitors all four wheels and warns the driver if pressures fall outside of normal ranges.”
Automotive repair shops are now finding that they have to equip themselves with the tools necessary to service these systems.
“A common misconception is that a shop needs only a reset device to service vehicles equipped with TPMS,” said Hockett. “With today’s complex vehicles, it’s also necessary to have a scan tool that can communicate with TPMS if a fault is set so you can view data and clear codes.”
Snap-on’s new Software Bundle 7.2 provides the latest coverage to keep diagnostic tools running at peak performance. The software upgrade includes all new codes, live data and bi-directional tests for 1999-2006 U.S. domestic makes to enhance the already strong coverage for vehicles back to 1980. Other new system level enhancements on MODIS and SOLUS include the ability to recall the 25 previous vehicles, Scanner movie save and review, plus many more valuable features to help technicians get the most out of their diagnostic investments.
