Snap-on Software Upgrade 16.4 Offers European Coverage, New Interactive Guide Available

The latest software update includes new and enhanced coverage back to 1992 for Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, FIAT, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, Smart Car, Volkswagen and Volvo.

With the optional European coverage for Snap-on Software Upgrade 16.4, technicians gain the power, knowledge and confidence they need to keep even the toughest European repair jobs in-house, says the company. The latest release includes new and enhanced coverage back to 1992 for Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, FIAT, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, Smart Car, Volkswagen and Volvo.

“Diagnosing and repairing European vehicles can be challenging, but with optional European coverage for Software upgrade 16.4, technicians can count on reliability, support and true OEM-specific coverage to expand their diagnostic tool’s capabilities,” said Mark Schaefer, director of marketing, Snap-on Diagnostics.

The optional European coverage includes more functional tests so technicians can take on jobs with certainty:
• Mercedes HVAC system
• Alfa Romeo TPMS
• Jaguar airbag build mode function
• Jaguar driver’s seat module
• Jaguar convertible top module

It also delivers more relearns to avoid the dealership:
• Volvo steering wheel module
• Mercedes rear hatch initialization
• Alfa Romeo proxy alignment function

 

In addition, the optional European coverage includes Volvo power seat modules to keep repair jobs in-house and Fiat Auto ID to save time identifying vehicles. This only scratches the surface of the comprehensive coverage included.

Snap-on Software Upgrade 16.4 covers 21 domestic makes, 15 Asian and optional coverage for 12 European makes. It also features new 2016 domestic and Asian coverage for GM, Infiniti, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan, Scion, Subaru and Toyota. Technicians have access to over 98,000 new codes, tests, tips and data for model years 1996 to 2016. The exclusive Fast-Track Troubleshooter coverage goes all the way back to 1980 with 15,300 new tips and timesavers. Plus, the new software offers 23,860 Guided Component Tests, such as training and tips for diesel emission systems, EVAP systems and body systems sub codes engine drive cycles.

A Snap-on Software Subscription with optional European coverage aids technicians to get through repairs quickly and accurately by delivering high quality coverage and real time access to information day-in and day-out without having to think about it. Plus, not only does the program offer lower weekly or monthly payments, but it also includes SureTrack. As a comprehensive source of expert knowledge, SureTrack combines diagnostic experience, repair timesavers and verified parts replacement records harvested from millions of successful repair orders to help technicians improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce repair time. Snap-on also has released its Software Upgrade 16.4 Interactive Application Guide (IAG), which can be downloaded and viewed at http://diagnostics.snapon.com/IAG on a computer, iPad or tablet.

“Everything that technicians need to know about the latest software upgrade, as well as coverage from previous upgrades, is within the new Snap-on 16.4 Interactive Application Guide and can be easily accessed with just a few clicks,” said Leian Wunderlich, program manager for Snap-on Diagnostics.

The 16.4 Interactive Application Guide is divided into 10 sections that include: video, the stats, subscription, application guide, personality keys, what’s new, vehicle makes, platform accessories, SureTrack and MODIS Edge features. To navigate the guide, technicians simply click on the section that they’d like to visit and then click on the “return to home” button to get back to the main menu.

Standout features of the 16.4 Interactive Application Guide include: specific coverage added for each make in the Snap-on software, Troubleshooter and Guided Component Test screen shot examples, details for Auto-ID/Code Scan/Clear All Codes, SureTrack and subscription information, accessory information for each platform and much more.
