Wally Rogers Wins NASCAR MOOG ‘Problem Solver of the Race’ Award at New Hampshire

The award is presented following each race to the crew chief whose car posts the greatest improvement in average lap speed from the first half to the second half of an event while finishing on the lead lap.

After making wholesale changes to its car Saturday night, the #19 Stanley Tools Dodge Charger team watched driver Elliott Sadler march through the competition for an impressive eighth-place finish in Sunday’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Following the race, crew chief Wally Rogers received his first NASCAR MOOG “Problem Solver of the Race” Award in recognition of the #19 car’s dramatically improved performance.

Presented by MOOG chassis parts manufacturer Federal-Mogul Corporation, the MOOG Problem Solver of the Race Award recognizes the crucial role played by NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chiefs during each event. The award is presented following each race to the crew chief whose car posts the greatest improvement in average lap speed from the first half to the second half of an event while finishing on the lead lap.

“The #19 Dodge looked like an entirely different car from the one we saw in Friday’s qualifying,” said Federal-Mogul Motorsports Director Tim Nelson. “And it just kept getting stronger throughout the day. Wally gave Elliott an extraordinarily well-tuned chassis featuring MOOG steering and suspension parts; there’s simply no better way to enhance a car’s competitiveness on a short-track.”

Sadler and the #19 Stanley Tools Dodge picked up a race-best 0.279-second in advancing 28 positions over the final 150 laps of New Hampshire’s flat one-mile oval. This impressive march to the front was derailed only once, by a nudge from Joey Logano that turned Sadler sideways and triggered a multi-car crash on Lap 168. Sadler’s MOOG-equipped chassis was undamaged in the incident, however, and the #19 car was soon back on its aggressive ride to a top-10 finish.

MOOG chassis parts help deliver the consistent, precise steering and handling response needed to ensure success in NASCAR Sprint CUP competition. That’s why MOOG is the preferred chassis brand of crew chiefs and professional technicians.
