OTC’s ‘Instant Scanification’ campaign kicks off with enhanced capabilities added to OTC’s Genisys System 5.0 platform. According to the company, professional technicians will experience an advanced level of clarity and diagnostic confidence to solve and repair today’s most technically challenging vehicles. Significant upgrades to the Genisys 5.0 platform include the latest technician-requested productivity enhancements; Code-Assist now available as a searchable database, and a new "Maintenance Tests" information screen.
Unlike the traditional list of theoretical potential causes provided by service manuals, Code-Assist provides more than 4.5 million experienced-based Confirmed Fixes for vehicle specific, OBD-II Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). With System 5.0, the library is searchable, which saves time and increases productivity. And when a DTC is not available, or if you just want to search for fixes by symptom, Repair-Trac provides the solution.
"Also available for the first time is a new "Maintenance Tests" information screen," said Ed Lipscomb, senior product manager of diagnostic systems at OTC. "A scan tool is now required to do simple maintenance tests, such as, brake bleed, light resets, alignments, oil changes and more on most vehicles; however, finding these tests within the many specific system computers can be difficult at best. To improve user’s ability to find and use these tests, the new "Maintenance Tests" allows technicians to quickly find all maintenance tests and resets without having to search through multiple menus."
According to Lipscomb, the new "Maintenance Tests" information screen includes six major categories of maintenance services to include TPMS Registration, Service Light Reset, Steering Service, Brake Service, Battery/Charging and Suspension Service; and provides specific tests by year, make and model.
Through continual integration of its diagnostic product line, OTC’s software upgrades offer technicians best-in-class system coverage capabilities and the most extensive upgrades ever offered by OTC for the Genisys scan tool, said the company. With System 5.0, new expanded systems coverage and special tests for U.S. domestic vehicles includes 8,974 unique, new vehicle-ECU combinations, 871 individual systems, and more than 2,450 new actuator and adjustment tests added for 2011 and older year vehicles.
Expanded Asian diagnostics coverage for 2011 and older year vehicles provides access to approximately 3,550 unique vehicle-ECU combinations, 400 individual systems, and more than 1,600 new actuator and adjustment tests. Powerful European diagnostics coverage for 2011 and older models include more than 7,780 unique, new ECU combinations, 780 individual systems and more than 200 new adjustment tests.
