AMSOIL INC. of Superior, WI, recently upgraded its Premium API CJ-4 Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil for extended service life highlighting documented fuel efficiency benefits. This premium diesel oil for model year 2007 and newer heavy-duty and pickup truck diesel engines requiring API CJ-4 emission quality oil standards delivers extraordinary lubrication in diesel engines found in commercial, fleet and personal vehicles.

Formulated with the latest additive technology and the most advanced synthetic base oils, AMSOIL Premium API CJ-4 Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil exceeds the higher performance demands of modern engines. This fuel efficient formula withstands the stress of heat, soot and acids to help prevent deposits, corrosion and wear, and its broad viscosity range offers superior protection over a wide temperature range.

Measurable Environmental Benefits
AMSOIL 5W-40 Premium Diesel Oil provides improved fuel economy up to 3% or an average of 1.6% (55% city, 45% highway). Combined with the extended service, the new oil reduces packaging waste and waste oil disposal by three-fold, as well as downtime for maintenance.

Financial Benefits
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil resists breakdown and is recommended for three times the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) oil drain interval, not to exceed 50,000 miles/600 hours or 1 year. Significant costs savings can be achieved using this extended drain interval product over conventional petroleum based products. Drain intervals may be extended further when monitored by oil analysis. The new oil is compatible with all exhaust treatment devices and its low sulfated ash formula is designed to extend the service life of diesel particulate filters.

AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil is backward compatible for use in all existing engines, though specifically designed to meet CJ-4 diesel specs. Where appropriate, AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil recommended for diesel or gasoline engines requiring any of the following specifications: SAE 5W-40 API CJ-4, CI-4+, CF, API SM, SL, ACEA E7 E9, Mack EO-O Premium Plus, DDC Power Guard 93K218, Caterpillar ECF-3, ECF-2, Cummins 20081, Volvo VDS-4, MB 228.31, MTU Type II & I, MAN 3275, JASO DH-2, Global DHD-1, Renault RLD-3.

Pulling Codes: Multiple Misfire Personalities

A vehicle fails an emission test due to a series of codes, with misfire activity found on cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8 and 3 – and a strange metallic sound can be heard when the rpms are raised. See how Carlton Banks solves this latest Pulling Codes case.

A Story of Codes P0302, 04, 06, 08 & 03

This month’s diagnostic journey begins with a 2008 Land Rover Discovery that is taken in to a local testing facility for an emission test and fails due to a series of misfire codes.

Misfire activity is found on cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8 and 3; at first glance this series of codes implies that there may be bank 2 issues, but the cylinder 3 code throws a wrench into that mode of thought.
