Until now, programming the “Cub Style” aftermarket TPMS sensors meant a special [and separate] programming device. With the latest development from Bartec, technicians can program these sensors with the same tool that performs vehicle diagnostics, test before you touch and the all-important relearn step.
Integrating sensor programming with the diagnostic and relearn steps makes the process faster and accurate, according to Michael Rose, Bartec product manager. The Tech500 also programs the EZ-Sensor, Sens.it and Intelisens sensors.
Branded Cub programmable sensors from 31 Inc. [Smart Sensor], Dorman [Multi-fit], ITM [Uni-Sensor] and
Pilot have been in the market for a while. All that’s required to program these sensors with the Tech500 is the R51 update and the specially designed Programming Fixture (purchased separately from a Bartec distributor). The Cub Programming Fixture is easily attached to the accessory port on the Tech500, and because of the unique process-driven menu system, it is easy and intuitive to operate. “An added benefit of programming sensors with the same tool that completes the TPMS relearn, is you can test the sensor prior to installation,” said Rose.
For Bartec customers who want upgrade their Tech400+/Tech400SD tools, this Programming Fixture will be available for those tools in August 2014.
