A.A. Electronics Corporation introduces the new OK Spark Spark Plug Sensor, an easy-to-use tool that allows professional technicians to quickly detect both spark and ignition without removing the plugs from the engine.

The OK Spark Spark Plug Sensor uses exclusive Plasma Energy Event Recognition (PEER) technology to check for the presence of an electrical arc in the spark plug. A portable, hand-held tool, the OK Spark product saves shops time and money by verifying, in real time, that the spark plug is igniting while it’s in the engine.

"Technicians are looking for ways to increase efficiency in the shop while still providing customers with the best service possible, and that’s why we’ve developed the OK Spark Spark Plug Sensor to not only test for voltage, but to check for internal spark activity as well," said Sunil Parray, president, A.A. Electronics Corporation. "Although a spark plug may fire when removed and tested it doesn’t mean it will fire inside the engine, which is why our tool is a must-have for any service center: it eliminates the need to remove spark plugs and test them individually."

The OK Spark Spark Plug Sensor features an industrial-grade design with overmold grips and can work in any engine that uses a spark plug, including vehicles, motorcycles, boats, lawn mowers, chainsaws, snow blowers and other equipment. The OK Spark spark plug sensor also works with coil-over-plug ignition systems.

"Knowing that there is high voltage present does not guarantee that the spark plug fired inside the cylinder," added Parray. The OK Spark brand Spark Plug Sensor indicates that both high voltage is present and that the spark plug is firing under compression, both of which are indicated simultaneously and immediately.

OK Spark Spark Plug Sensors are backed by a limited warranty for a period of one year from the date of purchase. For more information or to order your own tool, visit www.okspark.com.

This month’s diagnostic journey begins with a 2008 Land Rover Discovery that is taken in to a local testing facility for an emission test and fails due to a series of misfire codes.

Misfire activity is found on cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8 and 3; at first glance this series of codes implies that there may be bank 2 issues, but the cylinder 3 code throws a wrench into that mode of thought.
