Ford Recalling 2013 Ford Escapes with 1.6-liter Engines

Ford Motor Co. recently announced a voluntary safety recall of 2013 model year Ford Escape vehicles equipped with the 1.6-liter engine built through July 11, 2012. Ford estimates that there have been approximately 11,500 of these vehicles produced and distributed for sale in North America, with most in the U.S. market.

GM Recalls Chevy Cruzes for Risk of Engine Fires

General Motors is recalling 413,418 Chevrolet Cruzes in the United States for the 2011 and 2012 model years to modify the engine shield under the vehicle. This change will help prevent any liquids from being trapped in the engine compartment, where a fire could start and spread.

10,000 Cooper-Made Tires Under Recall

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. and three of its private brand customers have issued recalls of Cooper-produced radials designed for fitment on SUVs and pickup trucks. According to NHTSA, the approximately 10,000 tires involved – produced at Cooper’s plant in Texarkana, AR – may suffer from “contaminated rubber” that could cause a tread separation.
