Hi, this is Eric with TechShop and another edition of Tool Showcase.
If this was a game show, “name that tool,” we’d all be hitting the buzzer, and we’d all have the same answer.
But do you really know what these are?
These are Eagle Grip locking pliers and clamps by Malco Products. You’re probably still thinking, “I know that design.” “What’s different about Eagle Grip?”
Well, let’s take a look at some facts.
The jaws are forged from premium American steel. The teeth are extra sharp thanks to precision broaching, and they are heat treated to resist rounding and provide increased gripping power.
The joints between the handles and jaws are brazed to withstand the force of twisting and pulling.
An additional rivet has been added for increased strength.
The smooth polished finish carries onto the quick release trigger, making use easier on your hands.
Now take a look at this. Notice there’s no split here. The patented power ring increases thread strength and tool durability. And here’s another nice touch. The large, knurled adjustment knob features a proprietary coating for increased lubricity, and you have the option of using a hex key for adjustment.
Long life springs are designed for continuous use, and the curved jaw models feature a precision ground and heat-treated wire cutter.
And check this out. Don’t throw away the tag. It has a mounting hole in it. You can trim it, mount it and store your new pliers.
If that’s not enough to take notice, how about this? Eagle Grip locking pliers and clamps are made in the small town of Dewitt, Nebraska, and what that tells me, is that they are proudly made in the USA.
Quality. Finish. Look at the facts.
