The new Bosch SMT 300 Smoke Tester is a multi-functional device that allows the shop to perform a wide variety of vehicle leak testing. Using OEM approved technology, EVAP leak testing is made quick, simple and accurate. The SMT 300 uses UltraTrace UV dye solution, the only OEM approved solution, to create Diagnostic Smoke and leaves a UV light-traceable mark that pinpoints the source of the leak on the vehicle. A UV light is included with the SMT 300 kit.
The tester meets SAE standards 2007-01-1235 and 2008-01-0554 for safe EVAP testing, and can be used not only for EVAP testing but also for testing of oil leaks, exhaust leaks, wind leaks, EGR leaks, and many more.
“A time-saving device when diagnosing problematic issues, the easy-to-use SMT 300 is lightweight and features graduated smoke flow control valve, air flow meter, and pressure decay gauge. The multi-purpose tester is designed for leak detection in any low-pressure closed system, and can pinpoint wind and water leaks of passenger and trunk areas. The tester operates off the vehicle’s 12-volt battery and can be used with shop air or inert gases, and is sold with a sturdy case, for portability and safe storage when not in use,” said Charles Gonwa, senior product manager for Bosch.
“This is an outstanding package value. There is nothing currently on the market that matches the SMT 300 on portability, accessories management, and smoke generation,” Gonwa indicated. This product is available in the United States and Canada.
