Millermatic 190 and 141 MIG Welders Offer Improved Ease-of-Use and Arc Performance

Millermatic 190 and 141 MIG Welders Offer Improved Ease-of-Use and Arc Performance

The 35 lb. Millermatic 190 welds 5/16”-thick material in single pass. It can weld from 24 ga - 3/8 in. (0.8-9.5 mm) mild steel in a single pass on 230 V.

Millermatic Pair with Guns Hero 02The new MIG and Flux-Cored-capable Millermatic 190 and Millermatic 141 MIG welders (replacing the Millermatic 180 Auto-Set and Millermatic 140 Auto-Set MIG welder models) offer users improved portability, ease-of-use and arc performance.

Introduced by Miller Electric Mfg. Co., the Millermatic 190 with 240 volts of input power welds material from 24 gauge to 5/16”-thick in a single pass and has a 40% duty cycle, a 10% increase over the previous model. The Millermatic 141 with 120 volts of input power welds material from 24-gauge to 3/16”-thick in a single pass.

A smaller and shorter, newly redesigned case platform featuring more ergonomic handles increases portability — both models integrate front and rear steel-backed plastic handles and a third die-cast center handle for easy transport.

Nine pounds lighter than the previous Millermatic 140 model, the Millermatic 141 weighs 51 lbs. The inverter-based, 35 lbs. Millermatic 190 is 37 lbs. lighter than the previous Millermatic 180 Auto-Set model — a 50% weight reduction — and features a more forgiving arc to variations in arc length and travel speeds. The system’s Fan-On-Demand cooling system operates only when needed, reducing noise, energy use and amount of contaminants pulled through machine.

Ease-of-use is enhanced in both models through innovative features including a Quick Select drive roll that makes setup quick and easy by offering three grooves — two for different size solid wire and a third for flux-cored wire. In addition, an angled cast-aluminum drive-system with calibrated tension knob creates consistent and improved feedability, and allows for easy setup for 10-, 12- and 15-foot MIG guns. Available on both machines, Auto Spool Gun Detect automatically detects when a MIG or spool gun is connected, eliminating the need to install a spool gun switch.

Both models also come standard with the popular Auto-Set feature, which automatically provides the welding operator with the right settings to weld mild steel, while infinite voltage control provides the flexibility to manually set welding parameters, if desired. A parameter chart located on the inside of the access door provides an easy-to-use reference guide for determining voltage and wire feed speed settings.

“Not just for the novice, Auto-Set saves time and materials and offers single knob adjustment,” said Ben Romenesko. Even the more experienced welder can benefit from Auto-Set, because there is no need to spend time setting machine, or using scrap pieces to test the settings.”

In addition, accessories including new covers and an updated cart with additional user features are options available for purchase.
