Bosch Telediagnostics Enhances The Service Experience Via Remote Vehicle Diagnostics

Bringing increased service and convenience to vehicle owners, Bosch has unveiled its Telediagnostics platform, supporting vehicle diagnostics from anywhere. Utilizing distributed diagnostic software architecture, existing in-vehicle technology or aftermarket equipment, Bosch enables technicians to remotely collect vehicle trouble codes, inform customers of vehicle condition and better plan vehicle service.

“As use of software in vehicles grows with vehicle complexity, there will be increased need for software updates to service vehicles in the field, said Mohan Sethi, director, Bosch Global OES Product Management. “Telediagnostics is the next logical step to offer vehicle owners increased convenience and reduced cost to vehicle owners. Vehicle owners can be quickly notified whether or not a dash light is a serious problem while dealers can better anticipate service times, dates and prioritize their work orders.”

In addition to remote diagnostics sessions, Bosch Telediagnostics collects information to generate vehicle health reports and alerts related to various vehicle parameters including Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS), oil life, battery life and fluid levels. The system can also facilitates information exchange with third-party services such as roadside assistance for the customers’ convenience. Dealers are able to maintain a record of vehicle scans, enabling them to better report on and communicate a vehicle’s health to customers.

Bosch Telediagnostics key components include:

  – GRADE-X Telediagnostics: a diagnostics software platform with a distributed software architecture, leveraging existing in-vehicle technology, including communication and infotainment or telematics systems. GRADE-X software platform is currently used in more than 100,000 dealerships worldwide.

  – Connected Vehicle: a hardware, software and services combination available to OEMs and their dealership networks for retro-fitted applications to communicate with vehicles

“Millions of vehicles today are capable of varying levels of telematics through existing communications and vehicle systems. Bosch Telediagnostics takes advantage of that technology by incorporating additional diagnostics and triage for faster, more precise vehicle service,” added Sethi. “We’re turning vehicle information into timely service actions. This sets up the future for predictive diagnostics as we start alerting customers of early signs of problems, minimizing untimely service events.”

Additional Telediagnostics features include:

–       Check vital safety components including airbag and ABS

–       Calibration updates maintain service records of vehicle maintenance for used/leased cars

–       Reduce service costs by diagnosing vehicles remotely and in a timely manner
