The Thexton GM Spare Tire Release Kit (P/N 805) is designed to release the secondary locking mechanism on GM spare tires (2002-’12 pickups and SUVs).

This faulty latch is currently on more than 13 million vehicles on U.S. roads. If the cable/latch is corroded or frozen it will cause the spare tire not to drop.

The striker tool features a specially designed end to fit securely around latch and only strike the stuck mechanism.

It inserts quickly and easily behind the license plate opening or back feed into small opening in plastic bumper cover where the spare tire crank tool inserts (SUVs).
