Kyle Busch earned Joe Gibbs Racing and Raybestos Brakes & Chassis their first win of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup series season this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
In his No. 18 M&M’s Toyota, Busch took the checkered flag in Sunday’s Scotts EZ Seed 300 to sweep the weekend at the famed Tennessee short track. This is Busch’s 5th Cup win at Bristol, where the driver also boasts three Nationwide victories and three Camping World Truck victories.
“As we’ve come to expect, the Raybestos brakes were there for us all day,” said Dave Rogers, crew chief of Busch’s No. 18 M&M’s Toyota. “It’s great to be able to go into a short track race, knowing that Kyle can drive it hard to get the win, and the brakes aren’t going to be a concern.”
With the benefit of more than 100 years of on-track development, the famous Raybestos “ST” series of racing brake pad compounds provided Busch with consistent, reliable stopping power needed to win at short track events.
The Raybestos Racing calipers used by Joe Gibbs Racing are engineered to provide a competitive advantage at hard-braking short tracks. With one of the most advanced caliper designs in all of motorsport, the Raybestos "Heavy Intermediate" brake package employed at tracks like Bristol can provide up to a 6-pound weight savings, as compared to similar competitive brake packages currently available in NASCAR. The Optimized Structure Caliper Architecture design for the Intermediate calipers includes mono-block aluminum alloy construction, integral crossover cooling and progressively sized titanium pistons.
Engineered to withstand the high-heat torture of short tracks and road courses, the Raybestos Racing two-piece rotors provide effective, durable operation thanks to the S-Groove slot design, racing-specific vane configuration and optimized metallurgy.
For reliable performance, all the Joe Gibbs Sprint Cup racecars are also equipped with Raybestos Racing ball joints and tie rods. The premium quality chassis parts help the team in its efforts to fine tune each car’s suspension setup for optimal grip and handling.
The lessons learned on tracks like Bristol are continually translated into product improvements across the entire Raybestos product line, which includes racing, street performance, police patrol/pursuit vehicles and heavy-duty trucks.
