Two owners of a Bay Shore auto repair shop have been accused of stealing parts from a car that was taken to them for repairs after the vehicle’s owner was involved in a crash last week, Suffolk County police said.
Salvatore Osnato, 62, of Holbrook, and 54-year-old James Jeffery of Central Islip, were arrested Friday and charged with petit larceny and making a false statement. The two men own Jim’s Perfection Auto on Wisconsin Court.
Police said a 38-year-old Brentwood woman took her Nissan to their shop after she was in a crash on Jan. 15, but when she went to pick it up, she noticed the side windows and windshield had been removed.
She told police the windows and windshield were intact when she was taken by ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore after the crash.
