Jasper Engines & Transmissions Offers Technical Training Classes

Jasper Engines & Transmissions has developed technical courses dealing with strategies for gas engine, diesel engine and transmission diagnostics. Technicians will have the opportunity to apply the new diagnostic strategies they have learned either in a classroom setting or on a live-running vehicle.

Because of the today’s advancements in automotive technology, it has become increasingly important for new advanced technical training to maintain your customer’s vehicle, and your customer’s confidence that you’ve kept up on all of the latest information. That’s why Jasper Engines & Transmissions, working with our nationwide customer base, has developed technical courses dealing with strategies for gas engine, diesel engine and transmission diagnostics.

The JASPER Technical Clinics are not sales programs. Technicians will have the opportunity to apply the new diagnostic strategies they have learned either in a classroom setting or on a live-running vehicle. The Gas Engine Course focuses on electrical diagnosis that empowers technicians to troubleshoot problems twice as fast as OE recommended procedures.

The Gas Engine Course is truly a diagnostic class, that covers issues like “no check engine light, but the vehicle has a driveability issue”, or worse yet, there is a problem that is destroying your customer’s engine.

The Diesel Engine Course deals with electrical concerns, fuel systems and cooling issues. It also covers current diesel engine problems that could cause expensive rework issues. This course covers issues with the 6.6 Duramax, 7.3 and 6.0 International engines, 5.9 Cummins and 6.2 and 6.5 GM engines. The book that you receive has many technical service bulletins for later reference.

The focus of the Transmission Course is to quickly learn whether problems are transmission or vehicle related. If the problem is vehicle related, the trainer will show you how to pinpoint the issue. You will solve electrical issues in half the time of OE recommended procedures.

The Gas Engine and Transmission Courses will have "hands on" exercises to have technicians locate the problems and solve the issues. With both courses, the technicians will receive diagnostic sheets to use in their shops.

Open participation is always welcome and encouraged so that participants benefit from the experience of other technicians. Class size is kept at a minimum to be better able to communicate the information.

Jim Davenport is the course instructor and has 37 years of experience in both operating shops and repairing vehicles. Jim has been a Master ASE Technician since 1972 and as been a Master Buick Technician since 1983.

JASPER schedules technical programs across the country. If you are not 100% satisfied with the clinic you attend, JASPER will provide a full refund of your class fees.

If you are interested in attending a class, e-mail Davenport by visiting www.jasperengines.com and going to the Installer Section where you will find a link to Davenport’s e-mail.
