German vehicles use a factory-designed, high-security lug nut that incorporates a rotating ring around the front edge of the lug nut. A dedicated star-shaped key is required to remove/replace the lug nuts. This rotating ring prevents the use of high-security lug nut removal sockets from working because they can only lock onto the rotating ring and spin, preventing lug nut removal. Lock Technology has developed a simple, low-cost tool kit to remove these impenetrable lug nut locks. The LT4569A Silicone Welding Shield is placed over the lug nut to protect the wheel from heat damage. Then a Mig welder is used to apply weld slag material at four front corners of lug nut. The extra weld material welded to face of lug nut provides an ideal surface for the LT4569B Twist Socket to grab the lug nut for easy removal.
