Emhart Teknologies recently announced the launch of the new Heli-Coil M16 x 1.5 Spark Plug Port Thread Repair Kit. This innovative new kit is specially designed for repairing stripped threads on Ford Triton passenger vehicle 3-valve engines.
Spark Plugs are one of the most important performance components of any automobile and over time, if not checked regularly, can sometimes cause stress on the engine and contribute to poor fuel consumption if not working properly. Spark plugs provide ignition to the internal combustion chamber located within the head of the engine, allowing the engine to rotate. In today’s automotive design world, where the primary focus is on fuel efficiency almost all engines are designed with aluminum heads. Over time, the aluminum may become brittle and in the case of spark plug threads within the aluminum head may cause a failure.

The Kit contains a specially designed piloted reamer Tap, a Heli-Coil Sav-A-Thread installation tool, Heli-Coil Sav-A-Thread Swaging Tool and one dozen Heli-Coil Sav-A-Thread Steel inserts, everything needed to restore Spark Plug Threads to OEM condition in minutes. The tap allows the automotive technician to skip the drilling stage often required in most thread repair processes. It also acts as a guide in the cutting process allowing for critical alignment and controlling the depth. The inserts are a special solid bushing insert with internal and external threads. The external threads have a special positive self-locking mechanism that permanently anchors the insert., while the internal M16 x 1.5mm thread size accepts both Autolite HT and Motorcraft Platinum PZT spark plugs.
