Grote Industries recently introduced two versions of its new SlimWhite Lamp.
“With up to 500 lumens of light output, a 50,000-hours LED service rating and an extremely low profile, these lamps are designed to provide abundant LED light, last for years and not get in anyone’s way,” said Mike Grote, business development manager for interior lighting. “And with their tough polycarbonate lenses and sturdy aluminum bases, they’re also built to take what a vehicle-based work environment can throw at them.”
The lamps are available in both 18-inch (457.2-mm) and 48-inch (1.22-meter) lengths, measure just 1.25-inches (31.7-mm) wide and are 0.75-inches (19.05-mm) thick.
“The dual length options are designed to offer the end user a significant amount of installation latitude,” said Grote. “With 10 diodes, the 48-inch version is perfect for lighting long expanses with bright, even LED light, while the 18-inch version can put the exceptional lighting capacity of 6 diodes in small, tight areas, like compartments, that are often less than 2 feet in length.”
In addition to its compact size, powerful 485-lumen light output and robust design, the 18-inch lamp is also ideal for any location that requires significant illumination, but has restricted mounting space. The 18-inch SlimWhite Lamp is also available with a convenient on-off switch. “The on-off switch puts the user in direct control of the lamp at the application site,” said Grote. “So whether it’s lighting a compartment, a shelf or a larger working environment, it can be on when you need it and off when you don’t.”
The exceptionally thin profile of the SlimWhite Lamps makes them less likely to be struck by foreign objects, while allowing them to fit almost anywhere. The lamps’ low heat emissions virtually eliminate the threat of contact burns or radiant heat damage that is associated with some other forms of lighting. The cool operating temperature of each lamp also greatly reduces the heat load related to illuminating any interior work or storage space.
The newest additions to Grote’s popular LED WhiteLight interior lighting line, both lamps feature tough, durable polycarbonate lenses that are engineered to provide the highest quality, white, LED light. The lens characteristics and beam pattern control are hallmarks of Grote’s LED WhiteLight lamps and stand in stark contrast to LED lamps that deliver less usable light through primitive lenses or in some cases, no lens at all.
Both lamps come in 12-volt (0.6-amp) configurations and the 18-inch lamp is also available in a 24-volt (0.3-amp) style. The lamps are designed to operate in temperatures of between -40° F (-40° C) and +122° F (+50° C).
Grote remains committed to improving the interior lighting environments within today’s light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, and the new lamps embody that commitment. Grote expects that its SlimWhite Lamps will be embraced by the RV and marine industries as well.
“Proper lighting helps increase workforce productivity by helping users see the work at hand, recognize hazards, reduce ocular strain and discomfort and assume a natural working posture that might not be possible under poor working conditions,” noted Grote. “It’s not just about creating a bright light it’s about creating the right light for the vehicle’s environment and the people working in and around it.”
