Rancho Wins Second Straight SEMA “Best in Show” Award

For the second consecutive year, the engineering team at Rancho has captured honors for the best new off-road suspension for a popular light truck or sport utility vehicle model. For the second consecutive year, the engineering team at Rancho has captured honors for the best new off-road suspension for a popular light truck or sport utility vehicle model. Rancho’s first-to-market Hummer H3 suspension system was judged “Best New Off-Road/4-Wheel Drive Product” at the 2005 Specialty Equipment Markets Association (SEMA) Show.

Rancho, celebrating its 50th year as a global leader in developing advanced suspensions, shock absorbers and related technologies for the off-road market, won last year for its Ford Super Duty suspension.

“This award is proof that 50 years of engineering and manufacturing leadership can pack a powerful punch when it comes to addressing the needs of today’s off-road enthusiasts,” said Rancho General Manager Joe Pase. “We are very proud to once again be judged the best of the best in this highly competitive category.”

The Rancho H3 suspension enables vehicle drivers to significantly increase ground clearance with 37-inch tires while enjoying the brand’s superior on and off-road ride and handling. The new suspension features exclusive Rancho/Realift torsion bar technology, which maximizes the full value of larger tires/wheels by eliminating the need to relocate the factory torsion bar crossmember. Rancho engineers also developed a low-profile two-piece cross member design that enables installers to precisely relocate the differential – ensuring optimum suspension geometry and zero bump steer – without removing it from the vehicle.

The Rancho system levels the rear to the new front-axle ride height with premium low-friction competition leaf-spring packs. Other key system features are Rancho’s widely-respected CNC-machined, cast ductile iron steering knuckle for superior strength and reliability; front differential drop brackets to optimize pinion angle; "disappearing" aft braces for added strength (without reducing clearance); and Hummer-inspired differential skid plate armor. The system maintains the factory rack-and-pinion gear location and requires no drivetrain or exhaust modifications.
