Get a Second Chance to Make a First Impression
Grand Blanc, MI — Hot on the heels of the popular TV shows Trading Spaces and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that transform and rebuild rooms and houses, ACDelco announces its own “ACDelco Extreme Makeover” promotion. Open to Independent Service Centers (ISCs) that participate in ACDelco’s Total Service Support (TSS) program, the ACDelco Extreme Makeover promotion awards winning TSS shops with ACDelco funding to enhance their business’ image. The promotion will launch February 1 and runs through April 30. Eligible TSS accounts that pre-qualified based on 2005 sales performance and an established criteria checklist will compete for the grand prize worth up to $10,000 in support of image enhancement. One winner in each of ACDelco’s 10 U.S. Zone territories will be selected based on purchases of ACDelco products, sales growth and existing state of operations.

Mitchell 1 Seeking Scholarship Applicants
Poway, CA — Mitchell 1 is accepting applications for its Automotive Technology Outstanding Student Scholarship to be awarded through the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) Education Foundation at its annual conference slated for July 17-21, 2006.

The $2,500 annual scholarship from Mitchell 1 will recognize a current student for outstanding achievement in automotive technology/auto repair scholastics. The scholarship will be given out at the 2006 NACAT Conference to be held at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

TECH-NET Professional Auto Service Raises More Than $15,000 for Special Olympics
Raleigh, NC — TECH-NET Professional Auto Service recently presented Special Olympics more than $15,000, raised through the sale of die-cast and T-shirt souvenirs of the No. 04 TECH-NET Professional Auto Service / Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics NASCAR Craftsman Truck, driven by Bobby Hamilton.

TECH-NET Professional Auto Service, CARQUEST Auto Parts and Bobby Hamilton Racing joined forces in 2005 to raise funds and awareness for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck champion competed four times in the No. 04 TECH-NET Professional Auto Service / Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Dodge, winning once, May 15, in Mansfield, OH. Hamilton also drove the No. 04 TECH-NET / Torch Run Dodge in Kansas City, Dallas and Phoenix.

Advance Auto Parts Launches New Online Consumer Education Section on Website
Roanoke, VA — Advance Auto Parts is distinguishing its online consumer education initiative under a newly branded consumer education section of its website — “Advance Know-How.” The new section educates vehicle owners through hundreds of pages of new print and video on a wide variety of topics, including how to save gas, safe driving habits and step-by-step instructions on how to fix and maintain vehicles.

The new content, under the link “Advance Know-How” at www.AdvanceAutoParts.com, is divided into distinct sections:

  • The “Know-How Articles” section contains more than 800 features;

  • The “Product and Project Brochures” section explains various repair and maintenance procedures, how vehicle systems function and offers advice and tips on safe driving and accident avoidance;

The following governors have issued official state proclamations that April is Car Care Month: Gov. Robert Bentley of Alabama, Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado, Gov. Pat Quinn of Illinois, Gov. Rick Snyder of Michigan, Gov. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, Gov. John A. Kitzhaber, M.D. of Oregon, Gov. Nikki R. Haley of South Carolina, Gov. Bill Haslam of Tennessee, Gov. Motor vehicle safety continues to be a major focus for state legislatures and regulatory agencies across the country, so we commend each of the governors for making these important proclamations.”
Spring is the perfect time for motorists to make sure their vehicles are running reliably after a rough winter and before the summer driving season begins. These events have revealed that three out of four vehicles inspected are in need of some type of maintenance or repair.
