AAPEX Facebook Community Exceeds 50,000

The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) Facebook community reached more than 50,000 likes on Aug. 7. AAPEX is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Sands Expo Center, Las Vegas, Nev., and will feature nearly 2,400 exhibitors and approximately 5,000 booths.

EPA Reduces Regulatory Burden Of Wipe Use

Recently, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) modified the hazardous waste management regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) to exclude solvent-contaminated wipes from the EPA’s hazardous waste regulations, under condition that businesses clean or dispose of wipes properly.

The Car Care Council Women’s Board is proud to announce the recipients of its 2013-2014 scholarships for high school and secondary students in the automotive aftermarket. This year, the Women’s Board gave a record $15,000 in scholarships.

Historic Vehicles Drive Anti-Ethanol Message To Congress

Joined by Congressional leaders and industry experts, members of the SEMA Action Network (SAN) recently participated in the “Fuel for Thought” Rally on Capitol Hill. The event aimed to raise awareness of the corrosive effects of ethanol-blended gasoline on automobile engines and the dangers of consumer mis-fueling. Hosted by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in partnership with the SAN, the event drew car enthusiasts and motorcycle riders from across the nation.

Texas Governor Signs Franchise Tax Bill

The Texas Franchise Tax legislation, supported by the Automotive Service Association (ASA) and ASA-Texas, was included in Substitute House Bill 500 which recently passed the Texas legislature, and has now been signed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

110 Students Receive Scholarships Through University Of The Aftermarket Foundation

The scholarship winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship to advance their education, either at two-year vocational/technical colleges or four-year colleges and universities. All of these students are either attending or entering vocational programs to become mechanical, collision or heavy-duty repair professionals.

New York And Maine Delay Implementation Of New Catalytic Converter Standards

AAIA received a letter on May 21 from Jared Snyder, assistant commissioner for the Office of Air Resources, Climate Change & Energy in the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), announcing that the agency will delay enforcement of the June 1 implementation of six NYCCR Part 218-7.2 (c), adopted standards for new aftermarket catalytic converters.
