Trico Products recently introduced the new Teflon SHIELD wiper blade – Engineered by TRICO, the first aftermarket blade line in North America using hybrid beam wiper technology.

Available now, the Teflon SHIELD blade offers superior durability and performance through Dual-Shield Technology, which features a wiping element infused with Teflon surface protector and a reinforced high-strength polymer shell. This unique crossover hybrid design helps the Teflon SHIELD blade reduce friction and protect against cracking.

“For more than a decade, Trico Products has been the exclusive maker of wiper blades with Teflon coatings technology, and today’s drivers seek the added confidence provided by a blade that supplies better and more consistent visibility despite the weather conditions,” said Kevin O’Dowd, Global Director of Marketing, Corporate Branding and Strategy for Trico Products. “We have changed the game with the Teflon SHIELD blade by using a wiper treated with Teflon surface protector element and an aerodynamic, durable and stylish polymer shell to improve beam blade performance.”

The Teflon SHIELD blade is engineered to conform to today’s highly curved windshields with a spring steel-beam structure that supports an infinite number of pressure points across the entire wiping surface. The turbine air foil shell is molded from a high-strength polymer that protects the blade, while its hinged design provides the flexibility needed to maintain optimum contact pressure.

“DuPont shares Trico Products’ commitment to an ongoing investment in research and development that continually pushes the envelope in technology,” said Tom Perich, Segment Manager − Teflon Brand Licensing. “The Teflon SHIELD wiper blade uses our most advanced Teflon coatings formula to ensure premium performance, and drivers will clearly see the difference Teflon brand makes.”

The Teflon SHIELD blade is now available in 16- to 28-inch lengths, providing coverage for 9mm Hook, 9×4 Hook, and Side Lock Arms. Trico Products also supplies a complete selection of merchandisers to help retailers and service technicians promote the value of advanced wiper technology.

For more than 90 years, Trico Products has been one of the world’s largest manufacturers of wiper blade products and systems with major operations in Asia, Australia, North America, South America and the European Union. It’s a game-changer that demands a fresh set of skills and tools to keep pace with the times. So, what does it take to service EVs effectively? Well, for starters, it’s all about embracing new techniques and technologies. Unlike traditional internal combustion engines, EVs operate on a complex network of batteries, motors and electronics. That means technicians need to learn how to correctly diagnose and repair electrical systems—an entirely different ballgame from your standard oil change. It’s not just about mastering new skills; it’s also about having the right tools for the job. From specialized diagnostic equipment to battery servicing tools, EV maintenance requires a whole new arsenal of gear in your shop. With manufacturers constantly innovating and refining their EV offerings, it’s up to technicians to stay on top of the latest advancements to remain effective in their roles.Of course, with every challenge comes opportunity. The rise of EVs presents technicians with a chance to expand their skill set and carve out new niches in the industry. By becoming experts in EV repair and maintenance, technicians can position themselves as invaluable assets in an increasingly electrified repair industry. But it’s not all smooth sailing. Alongside the opportunities, EVs also bring their fair share of challenges. For one, the matter of safety. Working with high-voltage electrical systems requires a heightened level of caution and expertise. Technicians must undergo rigorous training to ensure they can safely handle EVs without putting themselves or others at risk. Then there’s the issue of range anxiety—a concern that EV owners often struggle with. As technicians, it’s essential to address these concerns head-on, providing reassurance and guidance to EV owners who are navigating the intricacies of battery life and charging infrastructure. But for those of you who are willing to rise to the occasion, the future looks bright. As EV adoption continues to grow, the demand for skilled technicians will only grow, too. By embracing the electric revolution and honing your expertise in EV repair and maintenance, technicians can position themselves for success. TS
