Bosch has introduced the KTS 340, a dynamic new diagnostic tool for the North American market. The versatile, easy-to-use Bosch KTS 340 provides the technician with greater productivity, efficiency and accuracy, emphasizing time saved with fast and reliable diagnosis of domestic, Asian and European vehicles. The KTS 340 automatically zeros in only on service data for vehicles operating in North America, and utilizes Bosch’s globally sourced ESI[tronic] database to quickly acquire the most current relevant automotive data.
“The new KTS 340, developed especially for the North American market, is a giant leap forward in quickly and efficiently diagnosing and servicing domestic, Asian and European vehicles in the United States and Canada. This tool, with its large interactive touchscreen, graphing 2-channel multimeter and access to the world’s premier automotive service database, will streamline automotive service and help ensure rapid, accurate diagnosis and timely repair,“ said Jim Frazer, director of marketing for Bosch Diagnostics Business Unit.

Software now available online
Subscribers to the Bosch ESI[tronic] software package are provided with the latest DVD update four times a year. Data relating to new vehicle types, target values for vehicle diagnostics, up-to-date information on servicing and maintenance matters, new troubleshooting instructions and technical service information can be imported into the ECU diagnostic systems and these updates are now available online.
Online access to information for the KTS 340, a feature available since the middle of 2009 for the Bosch KTS 200, offers ESI[tronic] software customers worldwide online updating, a distinct time advantage by cutting out DVD update delivery times. As soon as new data for the ESI[tronic] database is completed or fresh information becomes available, it can be downloaded from the Bosch server.
If automatic download has been activated, the KTS 340 searches for new updates every time it connects to the Internet and automatically downloads any relevant updates. It is also possible to search manually for current updates on the Bosch server, with only the changes to the current database on the KTS 340 being downloaded, thus keeping data quantities for download within manageable limits. For now, DVDs containing all the updates will still be sent as well.
